1. What is “Service”?

Service is the process of giving your former partner a copy of the court documents which you have filed in the Court. You cannot serve your documents before they have been filed and sealed (stamped) by the Court.

Service is important because it ensures that all relevant parties have received the documents filed with the Court.

Tip: You do not need to worry about serving your Application for Divorce if you filed a Joint Application. However, if you file subsequent documents in support of the Application by yourself (for example, an affidavit), you should serve this on your former partner.

2. What documents do I need to serve?

You need to serve the following documents on your former partner:
